As you might know, about 80% of the cocaine traffic from South America to the US passes through Honduras. This is statistics from what are supposed to be official sources DEA etc. how they reach these numbers amazes me, as being that this is an illegal activity I would think all numbers are just suppositions, based on nothing, as is the Honduras government's position on the reduction of the amount of drug that passes through the country.
How do they know this? They don't know how much really passes through the country and since there is a large amount that does make it through how do they know how much is sent through the country. I don't know if I am making myself understood, but let's put it this way. One of the statistics is the amount of airplanes that land in the country to discharge drugs, this is supposed to have gone down, now if these planes enter without announcing themselves and land on unknown airfields, how do these guys know how many planes have come into the country? And how do they know there are less now than 2 years ago? Because they didn't catch them? That's the reason they are sent because they aren't being caught.
So the idea is if you can't see the drug it's because the trafficking has stopped. This is highly unlikely, most probably the same amount is going through, yes we have extradited 14 supposed dealers to the US but does this mean the drug movements have stopped? Of course not, when one drug lord falls another just takes his place. If putting a drug lord out of circulation diminished drug dealing by now we wouldn't have any more cocaine in the US, based on the amount of traffickers that have been arrested, sent to US prisons or killed, and this has happened to people from Colombia up to and including Mexico.
Today I saw an article about this in the New York Times, I will put the link so you can read it if you want to. I know you will say the NY Times is fake news, but they can't just print lies, they have to put the truth out some times, and this article is representative more or less of what has been known in this country for a long time, a lot of government officials are either involved or recive payouts from drug dealers.
