Well we have had some people seriously massing to protest against man made environmental damage, the movement was world wide and the people attending was massive. Here in Honduras we actually didn't get too much of a turn out that I know of, just some Facebook posts and a few articles in the newspapers and a few people giving some talks.
And we are being seriously affected by climate change regardless of it being man made or not. Personally i have no doubt that man is at least partially guilty of this, just look at a city it is at least a few degrees hotter than the country side and this is completely man made. I guess everyone has his own point of view but there are some things that are just common sense, an old factory using old methods is constantly spewing out pollution, this has to be bad.
Plastic over use and the fact that there are no complete alternatives to its recycling is another fact, just look at all the plastic trash in rivers and oceans, fires produced by arsonists is another fact, car pollution, factory pollution, water pollution, etc are all inescapable facts and they do have an impact on the environment.
Regardless, I will give you an idea of the problem we are facing, in Honduras at least in some parts of the country we have had a drought, right close to where I live is a department that is completely used for agriculture, farming, cattle ranching etc. Now here we have a big problem it is the biggest producer of oranges in the country but 70% of the crop has been damaged because of the drought, they have a lot of African palm for oil also over half the crop has been lost, and the corn production has been lost and all other crops have been affected.
This could impact negatively on the livelihoods of some 60,000 who might lose their only income source, now this has a domino effect, many of these people will come to the conclusion that the only way out is to emigrate, to other parts of the country or to some other country preferably the USA so the problem becomes more than just for Honduras.
Is there time to fix these disasters? I really don't see how, remember there has been a population explosion and by now I am not sure if the earth can handle all of the extra people, I believe population control will become a necessity from now on, and that one is very difficult because remember religion does not like it so we can face a hurdle right there before we even start trying. But I think the magic number is 10 billion humans once we get there the countdown is over. We are at about 7.5 right now but we could get there before 2050.
