Hello everyone!
Three weeks ago, I visited an exhibition of Ukrainian illustrators dedicated to the war in Ukraine. It was called "Even in the darkness, there is a light".

The exhibition took place in one of the most beautiful halls of the National Center "Ukrainian House". Stained glass windows and a massive designer chandelier under the dome of the ceiling always attract attention in this hall.

This Monday, as a result of the explosive wave of the rocket that hit the center of Kyiv (European square), the stained glass windows of this hall suffered significant external damage. And now they are left with the imprint of the art of war.

Усім привіт!
Три тижні тому я відвідала виставку українських ілюстраторів, присвяченій війні в Україні. Вона мала назву "Навіть у темні часи є світло", і проходила в одній з найкрасивіших виставкових зал Національного центру «Український Дім». У цій залі мою увагу завжди привертають вітражні вікна і масивна дизайнерська люстра під куполом стелі.

У понеділок, 10 жовтня, внаслідок вибухової хвилі однієї з ракет, яка вдарила по центру Києва (Європейська площа), вітражні вікна цієї світлої, сонячної зали зовні зазнали значних пошкоджень. І тепер на них лишилися показові відбитки "мистецтва війни"
(фото див. вище).

Such exhibitions are very informative for me personally, as each illustration contains a personal reflection of the artist. Behind every artistic illustration, there is a separate story. Often, precisely because of the artistic image, such a story is etched in memory for a long time.

Такі виставки особисто для мене дуже інформативні, оскільки у кожній ілюстрації є персональна рефлексія автора. А за кожною мистецькою рефлексією, що знаходить втілення художніми засобами, стоїть окрема історія. І часто саме через художній образ така історія надовго закарбовується в пам'ять.

I looked at all these illustrations slowly, remembering the terrible days of the first months of the war, which shook the whole world. I felt like I was going through it all over again. And at the same time, there is so much light here: an older man from Kherson in a wheelchair who came every day to the central square of the city occupied by Russians to sing the national anthem of Ukraine. And also art therapy for children in bomb shelters, as an allusion to the Kharkiv art studio Aza Nizi Maza that lived and created art in the subway for three months of the war.

Я повільно розглядала всі ці ілюстрації, згадуючи страшні дні перших місяців війни, які сколихнули весь світ. Я мала відчуття, що переживаю це все знову. І в той самий час в цих творчих роботах так багато світла: і народний байрактар, і дідусь з Херсона в інвалідному візочку, який щодня приїздив на центральну площу окупованого роісянами міста співати гімн України; і порятунок тварин, й іпотерапія для наших поранених військових. А ще арт-терапія для дітей у бомбосховищах, як алюзія на харківську арт-студію Aza Nizi Maza, яка три місяці війни жила і творила мистецтво у метро. І, звісно, візуалізація пісні "Ой, у лузі, червона калина" (Pink Floyd «Hey Hey Rise Up» featuring Andriy Khlyvniuk (2022), яка нині часто лунає на дитячих майданчиках.
