It has been a while since I talked about Destiny 2 as I have been aligned with most of the player base which has opted to try out alternatives instead of really playing the expansions since Black Armory which, for me, was a disappointment. However, the lack of finding a good alternatives with games like Anthem or The Division 2 has gotten me thinking about coming back to the game in preparation for the next expansion, Shadowkeep which seems to be a sort of pivot for changes to come to the Destiny universe.

Destiny continues to be my favorite game although I have not been able to gain any traction from my online friends to join me. However, with the release of its latest event, Solstice of Heroes, I have found myself immersed into the grind for improving my characters over time. I have also realized the amount of content I have missed since the beginning of the year which has made the grind somewhat more entertaining although I have yet to make any significant progress on getting the gear I want in preparation for Shadowkeep.

Solstice is ending this week so I took the last couple of weeks to achieve a number of milestones which have been challenging. I started the event at 620 Power which was 120 below the cap so I had a long way to go. But the progression system seems to have improved as I found myself powering up steadily as I completed a long lists of quests and challenges for not only the Solstice event but from previous season I have not played along with. The Solstice alone provided me with gear level 700 to start then 720 until achieving the 750 Legendary set which took a grind to achieve.

The event made me go through strikes, gambit, public events, and patrols for the first time in a while. It also introduced a number of new spaces and mechanics which I found entertaining. For example, the European Aerial Zone (EAZ) was the space to get our Event Bounties done which provided with some interesting parkour type activities in addition to some new boss battles. They also introduced the concept of elemental orbs which would rotate daily to favor certain subclass abilities to help in the journey to defeat the bosses.

The event has gotten me to level 740 which is right about where I want to be at the least before Shadowkeep. However, the list of pending quests I still have and experiences available are still quite long as it has been rough trying to achieve some being solo. I have yet to get a number of highly used Exotic weapons which is making me want to come back to play some more soon. I have yet to experience the two newest Raids nor the Menagerie which are more team based but am looking forward to do so soon. I am happy to see where the game is headed and hope for more as we approach the new content in October!

Thanks!
