Today I will bring you 3 films, but be aware that this is a two-part post, because I have several recommendations in mind:
Memento
Leonard (Guy Pearce) suffers from short-term memory loss, only managing to remember small moments in his life before he suffered his condition, but is unable to recall what happened 15 minutes ago. Despite this, he has created a system of tattoos and photos with messages that allow him to keep his focus on the search for his wife's killer and rapist.
Memory can change the shape of a room; it can change the color of a car. And memories can be distorted. They're just an interpretation, they're not a record, and they're irrelevant if you have the facts.
Directed and written by Christopher and Jonathan Nolan, Memento is based on the short story ''Memento Mori''. This film has a different structure to what we're used to, as it shows us two different time stories, one where the story moves to the future and another where we're placed 15 minutes before the last scene. This may sound confusing, but the director managed to make the concept very well understood by separating them by color scenery and black and white shots.
One thing I like is that, as scenes from the past are revealed to us, we can find out if the character we thought was suspicious is really bad or not. This uncertainty that means having little information, is what attracts us to this movie. The ending, of course, leaves us speechless and tense until the very last moment.
Shutter Island
Back in 2010, Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo starred in this Martin Scorsese-directed film. Witnessing this duo acting together on the big screen is something worth repeating, the chemistry between them is wonderful and not only that, the participation of actor Ben Kingsley left nothing to be desired.
Officer Teddy Daniels and his newest partner arrive at Ashecliffe Hospital, an asylum for psychiatric patients located on an island built like a fortress. Teddy is called in to investigate the escape of a homicidal inmate. As they talk and interview the staff and patients, they find out that there are more sinister things hidden in this asylum, such as unorthodox and illegal medical methods.
A storm worsens the situation and unleashes chaos on the island, with more escapes and riots leading Teddy to question his sanity and his own partner.
The atmosphere of the movie is mysterious and dark, I like it. Something I love is that, as we're guided to the end, the story takes a complete turn that makes us doubt what we thought was certain; what we thought was north turns out to be south and so on, vice versa. Really, it's worth it.
Predestination
A man walks into a bar, the bartender asks him a question:
What if I could put him in front of you? The man that ruined your life. If I could guarantee that you'd get away with it, would you kill him?
Michael and Peter Spierig wrote and directed Predestination, a film that centers on the latest mission of a time agent (Ethan Hawke): to find the terrorist called The Bomber, who has managed to cause thousands of deaths with his surprise attacks. For this, he enlists the help of the man (Sarah Snook) who entered his bar because , after hearing his life story, he realizes that he's perfect to accompany him.
Based on the short story "All You Zombies'', this story is more than a time travel film, it's an exploration of identity, the true self and our purpose. Not only that, but it blurs the boundaries that exist between love, hate and obsession.
I've seen it about 5 times now and I love finding those little details about the ending and the reveal of it all, even though the first time I didn't notice it at all. According to my friends, it's predictable halfway through the movie, but I don't think so.
Found this kind of movies is usually hard, but it's really worth it when you get them, so I hope you liked it. Got even more titles in mind to recommend to you, as they're my favorites and still thrill me after so many years, so I can't wait to write the next post.

Hoy les traeré 3 películas, pero atentos que este es un post de dos partes, pues tengo varias recomendaciones en mente:
Memento
Leonard (Guy Pearce) sufre de pérdida de memoria a corto plazo, solo llega a recordar pequeños momentos de su vida antes de sufrir su condición, pero es incapaz de rememorar lo que sucedió hace 15 minutos. A pesar de esto, ha creado un sistema de tatuajes y fotos con mensajes que le permiten mantener su enfoque en la búsqueda del asesino y violador de su esposa.
La memoria puede cambiar la forma de una habitación; puede cambiar el color de un coche. Y los recuerdos pueden estar distorsionados. Son sólo una interpretación, no son un registro, y son irrelevantes si tienes los hechos.
Dirigida y escrita por Christopher y Jonathan Nolan, Memento está basada en la historia corta ‘’Memento Mori’’. Esta pelicula tiene una estructura diferente a la que estamos acostumbrados, pues nos muestra dos historias de tiempo diferentes, una donde la historia se mueve al futuro y otra donde nos coloca 15 minutos antes de la ultima escena. Puede sonar confuso, pero el director logró que el concepto se entendiera excelente separandolos por un escenario a color y tomas de blanco y negro.
Lo que me gusta es que, a medida que nos van revelando las escenas del pasado, podemos saber si el personaje que nos parecía sospechoso es realmente malo o no. La incertidumbre que significa tener poca información, es lo que nos atrae de esta película. El final, por supuesto, nos deja boquiabiertos y tensos hasta el último momento.

Ver a este dúo actuar juntos en la gran pantalla es algo digno de repetir, la química entre ellos es maravillosa y no solo eso, la participación del actor Ben Kingsley no dejó nada que desear.
El oficial Teddy Daniels y su más reciente compañero llegan al Hospital Ashecliffe, un asilo para pacientes psiquiátricos localizado en una isla construida como una fortaleza. Teddy fue llamado con el motivo de averiguar el escape de una homicida que se encontraba internada. A medida que hablan y entrevistan al personal y a los pacientes, notarán que hay cosas más siniestras ocultas en este asilo como, por ejemplo, métodos médicos no ortodoxos e ilegales.
Una tormenta empeora la situación y desata un caos en la isla, con más escapes y disturbios que lleva a Teddy a cuestionarse su sanidad y a su propio compañero.
La atmósfera de la pelicula es misteriosa y oscura, me gusta. Algo que me encanta es que, conforme nos guían al final, la historia da un giro por completo que nos hace dudar lo que creíamos certero; lo que pensábamos que era el norte resulta que es el sur y así, viceversa. De verdad, vale la pena.
Predestination

Basada en el cuento corto "All You Zombies'', esta historia es más que una película sobre viajes en el tiempo, es una exploración de la identidad, del verdadero yo y nuestro propósito. No solo eso, sino que difumina los límites que existen entre el amor, el odio y la obsesión.
La he visto ya como 5 veces y me encanta encontrar esos pequeños detalles sobre el final y la revelación de todo, aunque la primera vez no lo haya notado en absoluto. Según mis amigos, es predecible a mitad de la película, pero yo no lo creo.
Encontrar este tipo de películas suele ser difícil, pero realmente lo vale cuando las consigues, así que espero que les haya gustado. Tengo aún más títulos en mente que recomendarles, pues son mi favoritos y aún me emocionan después de tantos años, así que no puedo esperar a escribir el siguiente post.
