I was out and about in the countryside yesterday shooting which I wrote a post about here. But the shooting wasn't just guns, although that was the main reason for me to be out there. I also took my camera and I shot these two images, and others, whist I was waiting for targets to present themselves so I could shoot them with my rifle.
I've never pitched myself as a photographer, here on the blockchain or in real life, in fact I'm the antitheses of a photographer; I'm not passionate about photography like I am with other things and so I invest zero time in it. I point, shoot, and hope.
I had my macro lens with me yesterday and decided to turn it on this bee and flower. Yes I know it's slightly out of focus; My excuse is the little bugger wouldn't keep still, and I didn't have my glasses on. You get the idea though...It's a macro shot of a bee collecting pollen.
I didn't have a tripod with me so ended up sitting the camera on my boot and flipping the screen out so I could see what I was shooting. I also used manual focus, hence the fact it's out of focus. Meh, it is what it is.
I also snapped the shot of the flower, not the exact one the bee is sitting on but the same type, which was a little easier as it didn't keep flying away! You can see the pollen sitting on the stamen, the reproductive organs of the plant.
I know these images aren't all that good and some of you could do better but these are mine and, as such, I'm pretty happy with them.
I generally like photography, looking at awesome pictures other people take and also taking a few when Faith and I are out and about, on holiday and stuff...But I don't like doing photography enough to invest any real time in getting better at it; It's just not on my radar. Besides, these days, taking the photograph is the smallest part of the process from what I know...The editing takes the time and so when I look at most photographs others take I figure they've been heavily edited to look better and I become less impressed; Photo-editing holds even less interest to me than photography itself...So I don't do it.
I'm happy that these two came out ok though and look forward to the next time I get to point my camera at something and press the shutter release button hoping for the best all the while.
And now, in true photographer style I believe it is the done thing to blab about my camera and lens so...Olympus OM-D E-M10 MkIII (mirrorless). The lens is the Olympus M.Zuiko ED 60mm f/2.8 Weather Proof Macro Lens...And that ends the technical portion of the post...Oh hang on, my tripod was my 5.11 ATAC Arid boot, and now that's the end of the technical section of the post. Don't ask me questions about it as I won't know the answers...Well, the boot I can answer questions on, not the camera stuff.
