This is a very general question and the simple answer would be yes in my opinion. However it would probably come down to what one was seeking freedom from. Financial freedom? Yes, it is very important to have that as a goal. Freedom to act with impunity in society? Maybe not so much as that might bring rise to lawlessness. Imagine everyone just doing what they want to without implications; Imagine men going around beating women, or stoning them to death, just because the woman wanted to educate herself. Allowing people the freedom to do such things is, in my opinion, not acceptable.
So, I think freedom is a great concept but has to be applied carefully lest those that want it apply it to their own needs with impunity and to the detriment of others.
