The ACCC (Consumer watchdog here in AU) have l was around refunds and returns and they are stringently managed; one of them is that a receipt must be produced for a refund, although the store can override that as they did in my case. So many stores default to that as a means to get out of refunds despite their being compelling evidence the item was bought there, is still packaged and in saleable condition. Typical huh?
