Hey mate, thanks for your thoughts, much appreciated.
Just on the detachment thing...One way I personally do it, especially at work between appointments or when I need to reset after a complicated call or negative thing is below.
So, a while back I wrote a list of many things, small things, that make me feel happy and positive. The smell of cut grass or vanilla, star gazing beside a low fire in the outback, fish and chips on the beach as the sun sets, fresh sheets on the bed...Many, many more.
Anyway, when that detachment is required I take five minutes to picture something, but not just form the images but feel the emotion of that thing, smell the camp fire smoke, hear the sounds of the crackle and pop of the fire, feel the cool air on my skin, see the billions of stars...Feeling the emotion that makes that particular moment so special is the key. I run the movie of that moment through my mind, immerse in it and feel it.
It energises me, soothes my thoughts, lifts them, resets me and makes me more ready for the next thing I need to tackle.
This is often done in my car, when pulled over, office with the door closed and at home too. Sometimes I just head out to my workshop at home and detach...Makes me a better partner when I go back inside.
It's a mental reset, but the key is to feel the emotion of that thing, the moment that makes your heart sing when actually doing it. It can be calming and renergising and can out things into perspective. It's free to do and can be done quickly with practice.
Just for an activity, sit down with a pen and paper and see how many of those moments you can list. I have over 300 now, and keep adding to it. Even just reading that list makes me happy and can detach me from a bad moment! Give it a go mate...Ask questions on Discord if you have any. 🙂
