There's a few things I like about lavender: The scent, the purple and the green and the complexity of the inflorescences. It's a nice combination and one I like to photograph from time to time.
A few days ago I clipped some lavender from my garden with the intention of taking some shots and those you see here are the result.
The French Lavender bush these came off is right outside my home-office window and keeps me company while I work. It's been particularly wet lately but the rainfall doesn't seem so dour when I have this bush, and other plants in my garden, providing such visual beauty. If anything, the combination is better because of the rain.
I added the ribbon because I had a moment of brilliance, (yes, it happens) and I'm really pleased with how these shots turned out. I wanted to give some of them a dramatic feel hence the dark backgrounds and I think the contrast of the colour-pop on the black background is a good combination.
The shot below is a little different. It's two sprigs of lavender, one sitting on a mirror and one in the foreground blurred. The light you see is from the light-ring at the top of my light box reflecting in the frame of the mirror and I think it looked pretty good so I included it in this post.
There's something relaxing, almost peaceful about lavender for me and I really enjoy having this rather large and attractive bush right outside my home-office window. When the weather is nice I open the window up and the scent drifts in filling the room and when the weather is dim and raining the purple and green of the bush adds a nice pop of colour into my day - I'd say that's a win-win situation, wouldn't you?
Thanks for taking a look at my photos and, as always, if you have any comments leave them below, I always respond.
