For you...from me

I've seen my niece many times but only for one week in her entire life have I been in a position to hug her, get a kiss on the cheek, play games and basically be a proper uncle to her. Video chats are nice and we do so weekly but there's nothing like her clinging onto me like a koala in a hug, her head on my shoulder saying, I love you uncle. I recall that the day I left to come home and it still makes me sad and happy.

That week was when she was two years old, five long years ago, and I have missed her every day since that week...and look forward to seeing her again but who knows when that may be considering the vast distance between Finland and Australia, and other factors. But, that doesn't mean I can't be a part of her life through video chats and we swap text and voice messages now and then too...it keeps me going and helps me to feel more a part of her life but like all good uncles must, I buy her things also...it's my job to spoil her.

I was recently in a store with my partner who was looking for some "cute PJ's" for herself and we came across some kids stuff which I simply had to buy for my niece @smallsteps.

The store was a Peter Alexander store in the local mall and the item was a little pink/lilac PJ's set with the Peter Alexander logo on them, a dachshund puppy, and because my niece loves dachshund's it just made sense. The images show the box they came in before I posted it and this link shows the set on the Peter Alexander website. I sent it over with some Australia flag tattoo stickers, a kangaroo toy and some mouse toys (she loves mice) as a gift for Australia Day which is celebrated on the 26th of January each year - I hope they arrive on time.

I know buying things for those we love doesn't necessarily fully demonstrate how we feel but it always feels nice to send off a package for her, or my nephew, and it helps me to feel closer to them knowing they will get enjoyment from what I send.

I'm looking forward to hearing the package arrived, it could be three weeks or so, and the unboxing which will probably happen on a video chat.
