The game opened with what felt like a lot of malice on both sides; a grudge match of sorts I guess. The Brisbane Broncos were eager to keep their season (mathematically) alive and the Knights wanted to strengthen their position on their run into the finals series - and to slay the Broncos season once and for all.
It was a reasonable Rugby League match to watch but painful considering the Broncos came up short despite some some amazing passages of play by several of the lads and not least of which, Reece Walsh.
As a Brisbane Broncos supporter it's been a tough year and now it's impossible for them to make the finals the pressure is off. One of them said on an interview that it's now all about finishing strong and sending their outgoing team mates (retiring from the game) out on a high - I think that's something to play for and I hope they can deliver some good results in the remaining regular season games.
Here's an update on how the Broncos went over the weekend against the Newcastle Knights along with the results of all the games they've played so far this year.
