"Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies," is how Aristotle described it, and John Lennon said, "love is the flower you've got to let grow," and I agree with both.
Love is a beautiful thing when felt honestly, truly and without selfishness and the emotion, love, felt between a couple can overcome many things if those two people are committed, steadfast and resolute. Love is about trust; trust in oneself to do the right thing because of and for that love, and trust in the other person - Without trust I don't believe true love is possible. Respect between a couple, for the other person and the feelings for them, is essential; with that, and a few other elements, love can thrive. Without it...love fractures.
Today I wanted to share three songs about love.
The first, called two, is a beautiful song about a man clearly deeply in love; it's powerful and passionate.
He says:
"Like a force to be reckoned with, a mighty ocean or a gentle kiss, I will love you with every single thing I have. Like a tidal wave we'll make a mess, or calm waters if that serves you best, I will love you without any strings attached."
The second is about love lost, a man reminiscing and asking, why we said goodbye and longing for a chance to reconnect and rediscover that love. Again, passionate.
He sings:
"I just had to call you, I had to hear your voice, and tell you I still love you and we still have a choice. You're sewn into the fabric, the pieces of my life and I just can't remember why we said goodbye."
Lastly is this really sweet song about a fellow trying to connect with a girl as he no longer wants to be single, a one man band. He talks about life together, the ease of it, how comfortable they would be and how together they can have a beautiful life.
He says:
"I wanna run down your wild dreams and I wanna chase every high with you, count every rip in these old jeans, we'll never learn how to sing the blues"
✳️ Here's a link to YouTube where you'll find all three in a single YouTube playlist.
I don't know how many songs there are about love, the good and bad of it, but it must be millions. I guess the tracks around the subject of love mirror real life though, the extremely beautiful and pure aspects of love and the sordid nature of it and what people are capable of; lies, disrespect and other such things. I wonder though, what does love between two people, romantic love, mean to you and has it been something that's provided value, pleasure, contentment and happiness or has it cut you, left you bleeding and distrustful of it?
