As a fan of fights, I really enjoy the fact that this genre is really on the rise in recent years, expanding with new brands, even platforms, so these games can also be enjoyed by gamers, for example, on a PC that has been avoided in the past. Each year there is at least one new addition to the top league league, where are the biggest games in the genre. Whether it's Street Fighter, Tekken, Mortal Kombat, or whatever. But there is also less and less known competition. On the opposite pole there is an increasing number of simple fighters for complete beginners like Divekick or Pocket Rumble. Well, the center is also growing, and we can also include the current news of SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy.

Why in the middle? It's a bit more complicated, so you need more than two buttons to control it, and for example, you do not transfer it with Joy-Con. At the same time, however, it is very accessible and I personally consider it a very good entry point to the genre if someone does not want to jump straight on Street Fighter and get a nasty beating. Or, it is very suitable for sitting with friends, who do not have to explain complicated mechanisms. Explain what the individual buttons are, and go into action.

SNK Heroines is a crossover and fan service. SNK with the game went into its rich history and pulled out famous female fighters from series like The King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, Samurai Shodown, or even Art of Fighting. Not only are they paying attention to their female figures, they celebrate as Shin Nihon Kikaku Corporation was born in 1978, so this year has been on the scene for 40 years. But as you can see on the mark above, the celebration of such a nice anniversary would probably have been a little better because the game occasionally acts as if it were sewn with a hot needle.

Her name actually tells everything about the game. It is made up of female heroes of the SNK series, and it is not quite a common 2D fighter, but a 2v2 tag game, where you have a pair of characters, which are also linked to some game mechanics. But there really is no mode where you can fight 1v1, you always choose two beauties from fourteen game characters, wait for the opponent to choose (whether alive or AI) and kicks and kicks on the screen. But here we are dealing with one of the problems of content play. In this area, there are few characters and no more.

At the same time, it can not be said that the choice of characters is bad, whether in terms of variety of fighting styles, visual or overall impression, so everyone will find their favorite. However, we have gotten used to a bit different standard and 14 are just a few. You can find, for example, Athena, Shermie, Mui Mui, Mai, or the female version of Terry Bogard of Fatal Fury. Unfortunately, this is not the only area where content is less than you would like. There are fewer arenas in which there are seven in the game and again can not be said to have been processed badly. On the contrary, the visuals are really fine and varied, but seven are few.

And we continue with the description of the content that we have been content with, since the game does not even exist in the area of game content, even if you find the traditional base here, something else you would be looking for. The menu opens the story mode, followed by the classic Versus menu, where you can play fast AI and live opponent, training, tutorial, local match with wirelessly crossed Switch consoles, and perhaps the most interesting in this offer is the Survival Mode in which you fight against CPU waves opponents. This is not a terno, but it will please the fact that you can enjoy this mode in pair thanks to local co-operation, which is ideal for Switch. You can not miss online, which I will still be dealing with, and the offer closes a gallery where you can unlock videos, concepts and songs by playing.

We start a story mode, which may not play the first violin in this genre, but for the last time, we have grown accustomed to the fact that scriptwriters are able to actually sit down and create something that has a head and a heel. But you can not find it here, and the story is, like the game concept, a bit tainted. A little bit. This is one of the tournaments of the King of Fighters, when Kukri brought the famous warriors (and Terry, who turned them over to the woman) about their alternative dimension, where he wants to take the fear and the anger to control the main dimension. You choose two girls that fight side by side with others in seven rounds, while the beats are changed to sand sculptures. Eventually you defeat Kukri and everything goes back to the old track.

I told you, a bit of a flight, but a bit uninteresting. I will not be mistaken, the story has passed several times, but how did I only have fun for the first time. The other one I have just used is that the story line is very short, it takes about half an hour, and unzip it in the gallery. So it's not a matter of great content that you would have liked to spend a lot of hours with. It's fine, but that's all. And this is a sentence you're still seeing this review.

I've already sketched out that the game fits into the imaginative range of the genre somewhere in the middle of accessibility. Of those 14 characters each has 4-8 advanced attacks that otherwise go mostly from one button. In addition, there are easy and hard attacks, one button for the ultimate attack and one button for the absolute block. You would find yourself mildly in the list of attacks and moves, and they do not even exist in the game. And not really high, you have to meet the jump attacks. But what the game has lost on the variability of the techniques, it has a wider range of moves, as there are no ground or airborne dislocations, revolvers, jerks, and more that allow you to play more tactically and find a gap in your opponents' defense.

This is enough to beat the opponent. In this game, the opponent is not "killed". Both of your characters share a common indicator of life that can not be reduced to zero and can slowly regenerate over time. You have to reduce it so much that you are able to stun (or get at least low enough) and then use your special attack. You can use it anytime you have enough energy, but you can make it that way by reducing the life of your opponent. But by fighting, it is just a marker for a special attack, but it also adds to the background. Tagging is a strong tactical element, and I've just won a few online fights to win the game by rightly breaking down a character who's been hit by open attacks with their special attacks.

An interesting feature is the items you can pick up during the battles. The arena is generated randomly and is used by a character that is inactive. You find the offensive, defensive and boosting aids. For example, you take a grenade and your inactive partner throws you into an opponent. Or, avoid using a specially-used wall before a special attack. Alternatively, you can add life to the elixir. Of course, in online you can also know these things and turn them off and fight without them. I would not say, however, that the gameplay is bad. Overall, the combat system is simple, yet accessible and entertaining. Do not expect Tekken or Street Fighter and enjoy yourself.

Of the modes, it is even the most important online feature that offers the possibility of traditional matches that you can search for (and refuse if the game finds your opponent with a miserable connection), but you also have the ability to create rooms for up to 8 people, chat with them, or watch ongoing matches. They can simultaneously run in multiple fields to fight only two and others waiting. They enjoyed setting-up options that include the region, use of objects, but also behaviors (you do not want to play with someone who is often deserted). Unfortunately, the quality of the online game is still very volatile so far, and even if you find trouble-free matches, but also those that will be disgusting to lag, even if you have both the full signal.

Audiovisual is an area where it is without compromise. Perhaps the only one in the game. Although the graphics style of the game is very specific and I can imagine that many do not fit, but I definitely think that the game looks good and despite the many details on the screen, it moves well and steadily what is crucial in the fighters. Sound is also specific, but it is a Japanese game, especially to a Japanese audience. That's why you will find only Japanese dabing characters. The j-pop song is accompanied by the menu, and the music in the individual arenas is carried in lightweight melodies.

SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy is relatively difficult to evaluate. It's really a good game, but that's all. You would want more of it. More on the content page, more on the quality page. The combat system is even easier, but accessible and entertaining. By playing alone, you will not be bored, it is just as questionable how long it will last for you. But it would have liked more characters, more arenas, more storyline and more interesting modes so that the player, after the few strides of the story, did not depend only between online and local multiplayer. And you need to fix it online immediately. It is not possible for half the matches to run well and the other half to be so tragic.

Thank you very much for your support!
