Talismans are Splinterlanes' own collectible. Each one carries a Rules Mod, a Splinterlands ruleset that governs your Friendly Lane in every match you play with it equipped, and the rarer ones stack a second or third mod on top. Two changes went live this week, and both are about getting more of them into players' hands.
- Your first win of every day now earns a bonus Talisman, on top of whatever the match paid.
- Engraved Talismans can now be given to any Splinterlands player.
Here's how each one works, and what you can do with them together.
A Talisman for your first win of the day
Win any battle for Tickets (Ranked, Sealed, Draft, or a stakes private room) and, if it's your first win of the day, a second prize lands alongside the match's own: a Talisman, straight into your inventory.
- It's on top of the prize, not instead of it. A card prize still arrives in your Splinterlands collection as usual. If the match prize was a Talisman too, you walk away with two.
- One per day, and the day starts at midnight UTC. The Ranked tile in the lobby tells you where you stand: First win today: +1 bonus Talisman while it's waiting, or a countdown to the next one once you've collected it.
- Losses don't use it up. It's waiting for your first win, however many battles that takes.
- It's a full Talisman. It's rolled the same way as a Talisman won as a match prize, so it can come with a second or even a third mod. The Foil Talisman Bonus applies too: the Black and Gold Foils in your Deck lift its odds of a higher tier, exactly as they do for a Talisman prize.
- You'll see it when it lands. It shows under + First win of the day in the prize pop-up after the match, on that match's row in your History, and as its own entry on your Prizes page.
- Free play doesn't count. Practice, the Guided first battle and free private rooms never pay prizes, and that includes this one.
Bonus Talismans arrive un-Engraved, like most prize Talismans. That makes no difference in play: equip one in the Deck Builder and it governs your Friendly Lane right away. It also counts toward your Talisman Gallery, where a new Rules Mod fills an empty frame.
Giving a Talisman
Any Engraved Talisman can now be given to another player. Open your Talisman Inventory, press Give… on an Engraved Talisman, type the player's Splinterlands name, and confirm with Give · 1 🎟.
- It arrives Engraved. Giving writes the Talisman's record to the Hive blockchain again, this time with its new owner and with your name as the giver. It doesn't land as a bare copy that has to be Engraved all over again. The 1 🎟 you pay covers that record.
- Only Engraved Talismans can be given. Engraving is what puts a Talisman's record on the blockchain, so a gift needs that record to move with it. An un-Engraved Talisman (every daily bonus one, for a start) shows Engrave · 1 🎟 instead. Engrave it first and it's ready to give, so a bonus Talisman to a friend costs 2 🎟 in all: one to Engrave, one to give.
- The name is checked. The player must exist on Splinterlands, so a typo can't send a Talisman into nowhere. If Splinterlands can't confirm the name at that moment, nothing happens and you can try again.
- A gift is final. The Talisman leaves your inventory and any Deck it was equipped to. Only the new owner can give it back.
- Listed Talismans stay put. A Talisman on the Market has to be taken off it before it can be given.
Talismans bought on the Talisman Market already arrive Engraved, so a Talisman you buy can be passed on straight away.
Putting them together
The two features are meant to work together. A few ways to use them:
- Start a friend off. A new player with no Talisman of their own plays every match on a free loaner. Engrave a spare from your daily wins and hand them one of their own.
- Fill a friend's Gallery. The Gallery shows each player's best Talisman of every Rules Mod. If you've collected a second Earthquake and a friend is missing one, that frame is now yours to fill.
- Or keep the pile growing. Bonus Talismans can be equipped, Engraved, given, or listed on the Market from 20 DEC (sellers receive 95% of the price). They're yours to use however you like.
If you're working out which Talisman suits your Deck, Talismans — read one, then build around it walks through reading a Rules Mod and building around it. The full rules of the game, Talismans included, are in the How to Play guide, and how your cards and prizes stay yours on-chain covers what Engraving and on-chain delivery mean for ownership.
