Hello world!
I'm pretty bad at introductions, so I hope you can bear with me. My name is Emma, and I'm 24 years old and I'm from Scotland. Here's a photo of me from New Year's Eve. I'm new to both Cryptocurrency and LeoFinance, personally I really love reading stories about how people got into Cryptocurrency so I thought I would write my own. I had known about Bitcoin for a while, back in its very early days but I was pretty young at the time and didn't really understand the concept or invest anything in it. Which of course, years later is now one of my regrets.
With the increasing conversation around de-platforming, censorship, and alternative technology I decided to try and understand Cryptocurrency better and see what it had to offer. In truth, I have a long way to go before I understand practically any of it. But, lifelong journeys of learning is something that's really appealing to me. I'm currently learning Russian - which is where my username came from. Кот means cat in Russian, and Gael is used to refer to people from Scotland & Ireland. It combines three things that make up my identity: my Scottishness, my Russian language journey, and my love of cats. Learning another language isn't something that you can neatly compartmentalise into a small chunk of your life. I'm still learning things about my native language!
At University, I studied Politics and International Relations. I'm really keen in learning about how different people think and how that reflects in their politics and life decisions. It's very interesting also to read the difference between how politics plays out on the national and international level. All of these kind of relate to my interest in Crypto. The projects that creators come up with, both in the problems they seek to address and their methods really caught my attention. I think it can be easy to be caught up in stories of how people either got really rich through Crypto or lost all their money, but I think Crypto is about more than just that. It's about self-sufficiency, community development, and seeking to address issues that are still affecting communities both nationally and internationally.
So far, I haven't done any actual investment. I've mostly played around with Coinbase Earn and using platforms such as Torum (same username as on here), Publish0X, and Uptrennd to work towards both learning more about Crypto and earning some. I currently just have a very tiny amount of Bitcoin and Ethereum (well, and BAT because I use Brave) in my portfolio, but I'm reading up on other coins and such too. I think it'll be a while before I feel comfortable enough to invest actual money, but I see this period as a period of learning. While in truth, learning from the back is different from learning hands on, I do still believe in the importance of not just jumping in the deep end. Am I still going to make mistakes in the future when I do invest? Of course, but I hope this preparation period at least gives me the background knowledge to properly learn from those mistakes instead of just sitting around wondering what happened.
I'm really looking forward to reading your articles and learning from you all. I had taken the time to read some articles before signing up and I was impressed at the quality of writing on here. I'm also looking forward to the day that I have learnt enough to be able to write interesting articles on Crypto, and to give back to the community that helped me to learn!
