—Run!—Jack shouted holding my hand tightly and pulling me in the opposite direction to the wolves group that were looking at us with their big yellow eyes.
They had appeared suddenly, as if by magic. Jack and I were together in the woods, eating some of the apple pie left over from last night. We ate quietly, at the foot of a tree, when this group of wolves the size of bears began to surround us. We expected them to leave, but it was not like that, on the contrary, they got much closer to us. We started to worry when one of them, with eyes as bright as gold and fur as black as the night itself, growled at us.
At the moment we knew something was wrong.
We began to collect our things, with the clear intention of going back home. Nevertheless, when Jack got up, the nearest wolf growled, showing his big fangs. Immediately, the other wolves focused all their attention on us. I began to worry when the wolves came closer and closer, beginning to close the possible escape routes. Jack seemed to notice faster than I did, so he slung the backpacks over his shoulder as slowly as possible. After a second, he took my hand and ran for the only way left free.
A wolf stretched its claws at us, to stop us. Jack managed to dodge it, but managed to scratch my cheek. We could hear the incredibly fast footsteps behind us.
-If we get to the truck, we will be fine! Jack shouted without stopping running, and dragged me with him. Do not stop for anything in the world!
He had completely forgotten about Jack's truck, who had parked it on the side of the road. We continued running a good journey, I could almost see the lights of the cars crossing the road. If we were to see the other cars, we would be safe.
Then it happened.
One of the wolves came out of nowhere, pushing Jack against the ground. He released my hand, letting out a scream of pain. His white shirt was stained with blood, the wolf's claws digging into his skin tightly, like a child clinging to the leg of his pants. I gave a cry of panic at seeing my boyfriend on the floor, but he soon shouted at me.
—Keep running!
And I did it; I did it without thinking twice. I was aware of everything I left behind when I decided to run to the truck and leave it there. And today, I do not regret it.
