The following article is based on religious arguments which are interpreted through a video game, therefore, the aim of this is not to form a polemic or hurt the feelings of someone.

Throughout history many video games have had certain difficulties at the time of its release, in them we can find bad sales, destructive criticism, among others, however, sometimes can touch a point that sometimes attack sensitive people forming a huge controversy, it is the religious issue.

Many video games without bad intentions have had certain problems with religious organizations, leading as a consequence to censor several scenes or songs to be sold in countries that were rejected, a clear example of this can be seen in the first version of The legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

In the temple of fire there was a background song that was repeated several times, it turns out that this were Islamic prayers, you could hear the words "the elaha she alla" that translated would say "There is no God but Allah. Nintendo would release a new version of this game where they replaced that melody with another.

Other video games have had the same bad luck of falling into religious polemics over some soundtracks, this happened to Little Big Planet 2, in one of its levels called Swinging Safari's a few verses were heard in Coran, so that Muslims seemed very offensive to their religion. SONY made the decision to withdraw all games that were distributed for sale.

Despite that simple solution already had many units sold out of the game, so they had to completely remove the song from all consoles, it was as simple as launching a small patch with an update that would remove the track by replacing it with another without the verses.

One of the most famous sagas that has had various religious problems is Pokémon, as many of us know this brand is involved in the world of toys, comics, video games and movies, so the audience it covers is simply huge. As simple as their argument is, many religious leaders have always seen Pokémon as a threat to religious principles.

They say that through subliminal messages they inject into the minds of children messages that convey rejection of many of the fundamental faiths of their religions, but over time these accusations gradually dissolved, although there are now groups that aggressively reject the child universe of Pokémon.

Personally I consider that all that a video game can have is a simple fiction, it is something natural that some people feel offended by certain messages that may contain, but we should not relate them to real life, for that reason there are video games like Assassin's Creed that from the beginning you put a message that their video game is a work of fiction made by a group of people with different religions and cultures.

Therefore, religious organizations should cover in a more open way the wide world of video games and not point them out by a simple song or image, maybe sometimes if it deserves a small correction, a task that is currently very easy to do, but to make huge moves to ban it or simply damage its reputation seems to me to be very exaggerated.

Have you ever met a video game that's had religious polemics? Tell me your opinion in the comments box.
