Again we go with one of the most relevant genres in the world of video games, the FPS, in this case I will bring one of the games that until now I thought the best visual show on the PC ever seen, with a graphical engine without comparison and a gameplay without rivals, at the time were days in front of the computer to its glorious end, the great Crysis.
When this FPS came out I clearly remember that it had an XFX GeForce 8500, which could run the game without problems, but with the performance so low and at minimum resolution, despite this the game did not look bad, at that time it was premiering DirectX 10, this was taken advantage of by the Crysis graphic engine at 100%, but seeing several web pages and videos as the game could be seen with high-end graphics cards I wanted to see it on my PC with much desire.
This is how the graphic card tour started, selling my GeForce 8500 to buy a GeForce 8600, not satisfied with the result I sold the latter to acquire the one that at that moment considered a total beast, the EVGA GeForce 8800, from the moment that vi Crysis with this card on the computer could not believe the excellent detail that its developers achieved, although its argument is not something to highlight, it is a great video game with many properties that simply make it an excellent game.
Crysis is a video game created by Crytek released in 2007 exclusively for PC (4 years later designed a port for consoles), the base of the game is considered an evolution of the game Far Cry which used the graphic engine called "CryEngine" but for Crysis they simply gave it the name "CryEngine 2", the latter being much superior to its predecessor, combining its engine with DirectX 10, it was simply a graphic perfection at that moment.
The shadows and lighting cause an effect worthy of admiration as well as the different reflections that can cause from certain perspectives, a clear example of this is the first sunrise we see in the game, you can see how real the reflection of the sun was In the water, I still remember taking a screenshot and showed it to my friends and they told me that this was a real photograph, it was not a PC game.
In 75% of the game we will see a jungle environment, here is another detail that the developers could capture almost perfectly, the effect of the trees with the wind, the waterfalls in the rivers, the reaction of the grass with the movements of the enemies that were around is simply spectacular, if we are very detailed this game will distract us for a long time.
Not only the environment has a good design, our character and enemies with all the weapons kit have an excellent appearance, the textures in each of these elements are ideal to give that touch of realism that no one expects, I still remember the The first time I was able to grab one of the soldiers by the neck, his expression on his face that clearly showed between suffocation, panic and fear was something that really surprised me.
Special effects are noticed from the first moment we can manage our character, the most striking are the effect of water, gravity and explosions, the latter was a total innovation for the date because it was the first game in To be able to achieve a realistic photo effect of an explosive impact, seeing a simple grenade detonate was simply something perfect.
The gameplay within Crysis is one of the most addictive in terms of a First Person Shooter, has a slight touch to the open world, because we can take different paths to reach a goal, this makes the game more didactic, including sometimes we must return to certain parts that we had already passed, making the game not linear.
Before starting directly with the game Crysis gives us a short introduction where we are explained with scenes of the game what our great nanosuit can do, we have a group of 4 properties, the strength allows our muscles to have a superhuman strength which we can use with jumps and blows, speed allows us to move quickly for either escape or surprise our enemies, the armor turns us into a mini tank, which holds enough damage to fight against the enemy, invisible mode clearly reminiscent of "The Predator" with it we can go unnoticed up to a certain distance, if we combine these skills we will simply be an unstoppable machine annihilating our enemies.
We have a large gallery of weapons throughout the game, we get them from our own enemies, we must collect them from the ground, we can add different types of shots, telescopic sights to silencers, we can also drive in all the vehicles of the game always and when they are not destroyed, most of them contain weapons which allow us to defend ourselves, apart from him we can move faster between the targets, although preferably I prefer to infiltrate as a spy.
Simply this is one of the things that I like most about Crysis (apart from its graphics) the music that contains the game adapts very well to all situations, if we enter into battle we will notice that it radically changes the background, when we are in a moment of suspense or when we are entering a danger zone, a very big point in favor of the developers, the special sounds are simply an auditory spectacle, absolutely all the sounds of the game are heard perfectly, if you have the possibility to play it with a few headphones you will realize the real thing that can be heard from the slightest movement to a big bang.
Although Crysis with its CryEngine already has more than 10 years of having left on PC still continue to compare it with current games with respect to its impressive graphics, at the time of its departure there was no graphics card that could move this game to 100 % of details and 1080p, it was 4 years after that goal could be achieved and with several graphics cards in operation, many say that the game was poorly designed, I consider it was far ahead of its time, and its playability makes it simply exceptional, with that touch of open world that allows us to choose the path that most seems to us to reach our goal is something that makes it quite original (respecting its predecessor Far Cry), I consider that Crysis will stay for a long time in my Top 10 of games for PC, if you have never been able to play it I recommend it 100%, you will not believe that it is a game of 2007.
