Personally when I'm sending or receiving Bitcoin I get VERY paranoid about specifying the correct address.A slip of the hand and you could end up using an incomplete address or one with a typo...eek!
Here's a handy tip which has helped me to send/receive Bitcoin with a degree of reassurance. I use a hardware wallet to store my Bitcoin and open up a Chrome app to access it. This Chrome app shows the 'send' and 'receive' public addresses I need to use in any transactions.
Open up a notepad session on your laptop/PC and note the first 3 letters and last 3 letters of the address you need to use (depending on whether you're sending Bitcoin or receiving it) and then type these characters into notepad e.g. if you plan to send Bitcoin and your send address as shown in the wallet app as : 123abcxyz890 then type in notepad: 123...890 and then underneath this, copy and paste the full address.
In this example, the notepad session will look like this:
123...890
123abcxyz890
Now when you send/receive Bitcoin you can copy and paste the full address in the relevant field and cross check with the first line to ensure you have the same starting and ending characters to confirm that your address is correct.
This will avoid the potential problem of not copying and pasting the entire string correctly and missing out part of the address!
