Hi...I needed a car quick a while back and went to a cheap-o lot and picked up a 2002 PT cruiser that ran pretty good. But a problem developed when it stopped running in traffic. It finally did start and I got it home but it had been getting worse by not starting without cranking for too long and then that. It would not start finally and it had no spark.
Repair garages are expensive and I wanted to fix it myself. The problem was easy to fix as it turned out to be merely a relay located in the 'power distribution' box. It was the "ASD" OR, Auto-shutdown relay.

It is near the fire-wall on the drivers side.
These are easy to put in. There are several of these that control different things and they are all the same part number.
To test if this is the problem you can use one from the air-con or electric fan temporarily.
You must disconnect the battery for five minutes and tap the brakes, this will re-set the computer.
