Hi agmoore@agmoore, it's great to see you. Thank you for stopping by and adding some context to the topic.

Some relevant topics have arisen that I didn't think of while writing the post, and that's pretty cool.

The claustrophobia aspect is one I hadn't considered, but I can relate to the trapped anxiety feeling that comes with the temporary confinement, and every time I'm in a packed elevator my persistent thought is "I can't wait for this to be over." I think this is a shared group thought most of the time.

Finally, I was mugged in an elevator. Since then, I hop off if I have to take an elevator whenever I'm alone and a man gets on. Sorry, men. The guy who mugged me looked wonderful. He was so polite. So clean looking and then he blocked the doors and trapped me. Not the kind of experience I hope to repeat.

That is an awful traumatic experience, and the first thought that comes to me is that there is a huge difference between say a homeless desperate robber, and a clean cut psychopathic covert elevator predator, wow.. What is even crazier about hearing this story is the last woman I was with had a very similar story of being robbed for her jewelry in a elevator.

Sometimes I pass another stair climber and we sort of smile, as though acknowledging our shared preference for walking rather than waiting. It is a subculture 😄

I knew I wasn't crazy for thinking this, but an elevator goer would probably say I was. I didn't even touch the in-between land of escalators either 😅
