My previous post received a comment saying that black-and-white photos are good for appreciating things, and I totally agree with that thought. Sometimes, colors can easily influence how we see a subject. We may like something because of its bright color, or ignore something because the color does not catch our attention.
But without colors, the subject becomes more pure. There is less judgment, and what remains are the shapes, textures, shadows, and details. This is one of the reasons why I enjoy black-and-white photography so much. It allows me to appreciate the subject in a quieter and deeper way.
Today, I took some photos of flowers in the garden again. They may look simple, but in monochrome, they become even more beautiful to me. The petals look soft, the leaves around them create a darker frame, and the contrast makes the flowers stand out naturally.
I also noticed how the garden feels different when seen through black and white. It becomes less about decoration and more about form and feeling. Even the tiny details, like the center of a flower, the curve of the petals, or the small insect resting nearby, become more noticeable.
Photography teaches me that beauty is not always about what is loud or colorful. Sometimes, beauty is found in what is simple, quiet, and honest. A flower does not need bright colors to be appreciated. It only needs someone to pause and look closely.
I’m thankful for the comment because it reminded me why I love this style of photography. Black and white helps me see things with more appreciation.
Have a good day ahead.
