For me, one of the most important aspects of photography is lighting. I remember reading from photography articles that it is the light that brings life to a photo, and the more I take pictures, the more I agree with that idea.
Lighting can completely change the way a simple subject appears. A flower, a leaf, or even an ordinary plant can suddenly become more interesting when the light falls on it at the right angle. It brings out the texture, highlights the shapes, and creates shadows that give the photo more depth.
This is something I always observe whenever I take photos. I especially enjoy natural lighting because it can create beautiful contrast without needing too much effort. Sometimes the sunlight becomes soft and gentle, while at other times it becomes strong enough to create dramatic highlights and deep shadows.
These photos are good examples of that. The light helped reveal the details of the leaves and flowers, especially after converting them into black and white. Without the distraction of color, I feel that the relationship between light and shadow becomes even more noticeable.
I also enjoy experimenting with different kinds of lighting because every situation produces a different result. Sometimes a photo becomes lively, while another one becomes quiet and dramatic.
Photography continues to teach me that even a familiar subject can look completely different depending on how the light touches it. Maybe that is what makes photography exciting for me—there is always another way to see the same thing.
Have a good day ahead!
