For me, my morning walks have become more than just a way to get some fresh air and start the day. They have also become my little photography classroom. There is always something interesting to photograph along the way, and every walk gives me another opportunity to practice.
While walking, I usually think about the kind of photography style that I want to develop. I look at ordinary subjects such as flowers, fallen leaves, and plants, then try different angles until I find a composition that feels right. Sometimes the simplest subjects become much more interesting once I find the right framing. I have always believed that the right angle and lighting can make an ordinary scene surprisingly striking.
Lighting is another thing that I have been enjoying experimenting with lately. I have tried subtle lighting where the details slowly appear from the shadows, as well as natural sunlight that creates beautiful contrast. I have also experimented with strong spotlights pointed directly at my subjects and even backlighting, which can reveal details and textures in a completely different way.
I especially enjoy seeing how these different lighting techniques translate into black and white. Without color, light and shadow become even more important. A strong light can make a leaf almost glow while revealing its veins and patterns, something I discovered during one of my previous experiments.
I think photography is something that we continue learning by doing. There is always another angle to try, another lighting condition to explore, and another ordinary subject waiting to become an interesting photograph.
For now, I’ll keep walking, observing, and practicing one photo at a time.
Have a good day ahead!
