This late afternoon, we had a short rain, and I was honestly thankful for it. The weather had been feeling a little uncomfortable earlier, and somehow my mood was not that good either. But after the rain stopped, everything suddenly felt different.
The air became cooler, and there was a nice breeze moving around the garden. It was refreshing enough to make me want to step outside and see what the rain had left behind.
Of course, I brought my camera with me.
The raindrops resting on the leaves, flowers, and fruits immediately caught my attention. Some of the droplets were hanging underneath the fruits while others were scattered across the petals and leaves. These small details became even more interesting in black and white. Without the distraction of color, I could focus more on the shapes, textures, highlights, and reflections created by the water.
It reminded me again why I enjoy taking photos after the rain. Nature seems to change its appearance for a short while, giving us something new to notice before the droplets eventually disappear.
What I appreciated more today, though, was how such a simple change in the weather also changed my mood. I went from feeling somewhat bad during the day to feeling much better this evening. Without that short rain, maybe I would have carried the same mood until nighttime.
I think there are moments when we have to find simple ways to change our mood and reduce the stress we carry. It could be a walk, some fresh air, photography, or simply spending a little time outside.
Sometimes, a small change is enough to make the rest of the day feel better.
Have a good day ahead!
