In a tropical country like Singapore, strolling at night is a better option especially if you are not keen to experience the warm and humid climate during the daytime. On top of that, the tall high-rise buildings on the city skyline also showcase a beautiful city as soon as the dazzling lights are turned on.

"They look like stars that come down from the sky and light the city."

A while ago, I was about to go home when a dome-shaped structure caught the corner of my eye. It was the national stadium and it looks like the mothership of the alien invader from the movie Independence Day. It got me interested so I decided to go for a walk and check it out up close.

At this point, the stroll begins.

I started the stroll from the Nicoll Highway MRT station, which is a few minutes walk to the Kallang River banks. It was around 7:00 PM and the sky still looked blue, I guess this is the phenomenon that they called the "Blue Hour". The photos looked nice during this short period.

Interestingly, the mood of the place changes even though it's just a few minutes walk from the MRT station. With the palm trees along the river banks, the feeling has changed from the buzzing city to a serene nature vibe.

From this spot, I can see the Singapore Flyer and the Marina Bay Sands, this gave me the impression of how close the distance between the National Stadium and the most iconic hotel in this city.

I appreciate the calmness of the river. There are no commercial vessels or touristy boats that disturb the gentleness of the waves. The Kallang River is mostly used for sports activities like kayaking and Dragon boat practices and competitions.

Tonight, it has become my escape from the noise of the city.

I figured that the calmness of the waves was perfect to create the "reflection" photography and so I had some fun taking as many as I like and compile them here in this post.

Another reason why I prefer strolling at night is because of the nice reflections of the lights on the surface of the water. I think that the view is twice as beautiful during night time.

An interesting signage caught my eye while I was reaching the middle part of my stroll. "Fishing is not allowed." The penalty is much more expensive than simply buying a fish in the market so, I'd better not risk it :D.

As I continue my stroll, I notice that there are people who prefer jogging and cycling at night along the paved walkway of the banks. I'm amazed that they prefer doing it on a Friday night.

I also noticed a group of night cyclers that were gathering on the edge of the path. I overheard their discussion and realized that one of them is the tour guide while the rest of the group are tourists who are getting some insights from the guide about the Kallang River.

I never thought that there's such a thing now here in Singapore. I thought it was creative and if I'm a tourist then I will probably take this program too :D.

My stroll continues and after passing by the jetty, I realize that I'm already at the curving side of the banks and I getting closer to where it ends.

At the end of this side of the pathway, I noticed that there are establishments that are meant to serve the goers of this area. There's a shop that rents out kayaks and there's already an office for the river watch people.

Even though it was just a 20-minute stroll, the night has quickly gone dark which is evident with how the sky changes in the photos. The sky went from light blue-violet to dark navy blue, and that gave me the sign that it was time for me to go to the nearest MRT station and head back home.

I had fun during this stroll and the legs had a nice workout as well. I think the Kallang River is one of the places in Singapore that doesn't have a flock of tourists hence it maintains its serenity. See you soon!
