According to my hubby, he told a friend of his who happens to be from my school to share a 2go user name of a girl for him from his school.
His friend name is Innocent; his apartment was opposite mine, in my second year in Polytechnic. One day he walked up to me and requested for my permission to send my 2go user name to his friend. This of which I agreed to because I had just few friends around me then, too much friends will bring a distraction to my study. So I thought a friend from my home town staying in a far away state won't be a bad idea.
He gave my hubby the username after granting him the permission to do so. I got a message from him a while later. "Who are you please?" was my question to him after exchanging pleasantries. He introduced himself and told me that Innocent gave him my username. We got talking and familiarization began.
He was a 2nd year student of a University then. Our conversations were progressive and filled with a lot of academic advice. We continued on this page till I finished my diploma. He was passionate in rendering assistance for me to join him in his University for a degree program but as fate would have it, I gained admission in my previous institution to continue my HND program. It was evident from his usual mode of approach that some kind of emotional attachment was involved. To me, this guy is falling in love but still restraining himself from voicing out.
He invited me to his abode when both of us happened to be in break from school. Standing in front of his house waiting for that special 2go connect, I was also looking at his picture on his profile in my phone while alighting from the vehicle. Here comes the last call from him before seeing him and immediately I picked the call, I saw a young man with a phone to his ear. "This is him", I predicted as I walked towards him to confirm. At some metres away, we both identified each other in connection with the pictures of each other we had on phone. With a beaming smile, he took me inside, entertained me and we had a lot of discussions revolving majorly on our studies and our choice of career. I must say that his intelligence caught my attention that day but I never thought of anything beyond just normal friendship. He led me to the roadside to take vehicle back to my house after the visit. He soon let the cat out of the bag as he professed love some months later. " Ooh no, I am not ready for a relationship now", I replied. He is a type of person I wouldn't just do away with but scared to go into a new relationship. We kept talking, a times, once or twice in year but we chatted more frequently. Years later, he came up with it again and I gave it a second thought. He was in Abuja and I was in Lagos. We met in our home town in Dec 2019, about 4th of such meeting. He said a lot things and I saw him as someone with ambition. I agreed to his wish and we started dating. He wasn't with a well paid job but that didn't deter me because I saw in him a brighter future. Just months later, covid 19 struck and he couldn't even get what he was getting before in terms of salary. But I didn't budge. I was at a point doing my best to take his mind off his financial state.
Immediately after the lockdown due to the pandemic, he was invited for an interview and he got the job. This was how his story began to change. He was so appreciative of my role in helping him navigate through the hard times. Just four months into the job, he got an apartment and equipped it. Three months later, he followed me to my parents for introduction. His family came immediately also and that was how the work towards our wedding started. We picked Dec 29th, 2021 which happens to be my birthday as the wedding day. We started preparing for the wedding, buying things that are needed and we were in high spirit awaiting the day. On 28th Dec, the traditional wedding took place. As part of our culture during wedding, the grooms family would bring some items to the bride's family. This was done successfully and the following day, we tied the knot in front of friends and family. Just few weeks earlier, my fiance (as he was then) got another job with Federal government of Nigeria. According to him, "you are a blessing to me. May God bless the day I met you. May God bless Innocent for connecting us"; these were his words to me. I was overwhelmed with joy.
We did the wedding, lodged in hotel for three days before returning back to our state of residence. I am glad I chose him, unlike anyone else I have met, we share some real deep connections and he is visibly elated for having me. We are good to go. The love rose slowly like the incoming tide.
This is my response to the question asked by @galenkp Here thank you for giving us this opportunity, there is no better time for me to share my story.
Tell us about the first time you met your current partner - Where did you meet, was it a set up date or happenstance and was it instant attraction or did it rise slowly like the incoming tide? - If you like you may do a fictional story for this one, or post about the true story.
You can as well check it out to share your interesting story.
