Wow that's so artsy fartsy I almost erased it after I wrote it, but I hope you see what I'm trying to say.

Ya I do!! It's good.

These cultures were formed in a world where to observe them you would essentially have to go visit and be immersed in it.

So observing all these cultures from afar like we can now.... is actually a kind of perverted thing haha, it isn't really something that we're "supposed" to be able to do.

In a sense it's like these cultures weren't really built or designed to be gawked at from the outside.

It's kind of like..

if you and someone in Africa both play chess and like the same internet forums and websites, you probably share more culture than someone who has your lineage

Having the same lineage may have some connections in certain ways too, but it's more approximate and not super relevant to today.

The traditional cultures are more something to learn from and maybe lean on if in doubt. You can appreciate how they did things to get us to this point. But the culture of American and Canadian, and beyond that your town and community and friends and how you're raised etc is a more meaningful form of culture.

Not sure I totally got what you're saying, but I think I do, and I like the thought.

I tend to think people would identify way less with cultures if not for politics, and particularly the left basically depending on identity.

When they first approached me to do it I was thinking, first off, I don't want this to be like an SJW, "we are so oppressed", or a cultural 'wagging-of-the-finger'.

Ya! It's good that you did it, and didn't let their bad use of your heritage stop you from a real one.

It's fascinating how all the SJW stuff has the opposite effect.. I had never thought about this one, that the finger wagging causes there to be less discussion about the actual culture.

TBH I don't know much about indigenous culture but I feel like it has to be soooo rich.

And what people typically know about it these days is "WAH WAHHH, that logo is racist! white people killed them, bad ..... you're racist .. thanksgiving is racist" lol.

(And I mean they hear that from the typical SJWs, not from the indigenous)

"multiculturalism" to them is really the same culture of everyone being dependent, lol.
