DashOut Sunday
I wondered what I’d dashout today. I then thought of writing about some snacks I got recently.
“Ping-pong, Ping-pong!”
My doorbell rang. I wasn’t expecting anyone. Soon after, I realized it was the postman.
He brought a package with my name on it. When I took a closer look, I realized the package was from a friend I met about fourteen years ago. I signed and collected it.
When I opened it, I saw a handbag and these snacks, ”kinako mochi choco” and ”matcha mochi choco”.
Kinako is basically roasted soy flour. It is used to make some traditional snacks as well as other pastries and sweets. Matcha, is powdered green tea.
So, these are kinako and matcha flavored chocolate with a mochi-like filling in the middle. On the bite, it’s a little bit stretchy like a soft gummy bear. The combination of flavors and textures is lovely.
More Than a Snack
Those snacks aren’t just delicious. They aren’t just snacks. They aren’t ordinary chocolate or mochi.
They are lovely treats my special friend and I shared with each other about fourteen years ago. We worked at the same school and were teaching English to students. The course involved lots of writing. It meant we would often be checking essays (even when we didn’t want to). To encourage each other, we would exchange little treats. Most times we would have varieties of mochi chocolate. There are several flavors.
Special Friendship
Seeing the gift gave me a very warm feeling. It brought back memories, reminded me of a special friendship and friend.
Though we have not been able to see each other in recent times, our bond remains strong.
No ordinary snack. 😃
Have a great week everyone.
