Hi Hivers. How are you?
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

In this post I’ll share with you gifts I’ve received from my neighbors. By neighbors, I mean friends living nearby or within my community. My family has been blessed by their kindness.

Last autumn we received those bunches of grapes you see in the above photo. Interestingly, my family had planned to go grape-picking that day but plans fell through. In the afternoon, our neighbor gifted us those. Three different kinds of grapes. They were really delicious. We call those neighbors our “little Japanese family”. They helped us to raise our kids. When my husband and I had to go to work functions, they kept our kids, fed them, took them to the park. They taught them Japanese and often try to speak Jamaican patois.
When they go back to their hometown, they often carry us fruits.

Last spring, from another neighbor, we received these cherries. The cherries were from Yamagata, one of the places known to have the best cherries in Japan. We got so many. We were able to share them with our co-workers. Sadly, my kids don’t like cherries. They don’t know the goodness they’re missing. 😆

This week was a busy one but again some neighbors stopped by our door and blessed us with some gifts.

On Thursday, a friend living about four blocks away brought us five heads of lettuce. We were able to share those with others.

That same evening, another friend living a few doors away, brought us two packets of corn soup. We hope to try them out soon.

Yesterday, Friday, another friend living streets away, brought us some oranges and a jar of marmalade from her mother’s hometown.

Feeling grateful. Despite the pandemic and social distancing, there’s still neighborly love.

Let’s be kind to others in our communities. 😃
