NO! - IT'S ALL GOOD - SELF VOTING MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND - I SAY VOTE THE LIVING SNOT OUT OF EVERYONE'S POSTS - INCLUDING YOUR OWN

One of the most prolific bloggers I follow thinks self voting is wrong. I disagree, mainly because if you don’t think your own posts are worth upvoting, who else will?

I have always made a point of upvoting all my posts. On Steemit I have used up to ten accounts, and there were times when most of my initial upvotes were coming from my own accounts! But is that any more self serving that setting up hundreds of bots to upvote all your own posts? I don’t think either approach is ideal, and that is all part of what I want to leave behind on this new platform.

Let’s replace bots and multiple accounts with real voting. For any post, more votes always look a lot better than bugger all votes. And it also gives people the feeling that there are people appreciating what they are posting, which encourages them to create posts rather that just staring at their screens like zombies. That is why I think it’s important to throw votes around like confetti.

AND LET’S CUT EVERYONE SOME SLACK

In the past I used to regularly disagree with people online, but now on Hive I’m looking for shared points of agreement. So if someone is posting good stuff, I’ll follow them, upvote their posts that I like, and just ignore the ones I disagree with.

For now, I’m trying to be relatively inoffensive in my own posts and comments. On Steemit I have to admit, I sometimes let rip, but here, I’d really like to see things work out better than they did back on Steemit, so now I’m aiming to encourage other users rather than beat them into submission. What I’d like here is to see more users and more posts, to make more friends, and have more fun with a positive vibe.
