It's summer at the moment in The Netherlands. It has been mostly hot and dry. As often in the Netherlands there are thunderstorms that end a heat wave. Those storms come with a lot of rain in short period of time, which is good for the garden. I think the plants in my backyard did quite well during the heat wave.
Normally the plants in the pots get scorched during hot days. I used to have some pots with herbs hanging on this rack, but every year they dry out very quickly. That is why I was looking for some plants that did survive.
Chatgpt helped me to find this lovely Portulacas.
These plants love to be many hours in the full sun and can do without a lot of water.
They make a lot of small and colorful little flowers. You do have to make sure the drainage is good, because they can rot quickly.
The flowers in my backyard attract a lot of insects. Not as many butterflies as I hoped (the butterflies are having a hard time), but the bees are frequent visitors.

Also the patch of wildflowers is attracting bees with its colorful looking flowers. It's so nice to have some more color in the backyard in the summer.
The butterfly bush is also quite big and has a bunch of nice purple flowers.
But also this plant didn't have a lot of butterflies on it this year.
The plum tree is doing quite well too. There aren't as much plums as last year, but I do see around 20 of them. And one of them is already turning purple.
This is the sign that I have to put my net over it or else the jackdaws will eat them before we can 馃槀
I won't be needing to put a net over the apple tree since I spotted just one apple this year. Oh well, It's looking nice and it gives us quite some privacy in our backyard too.
The propagation of my Scindapsus Pictus Trebie is going well too. In previous posts you could see how I made some cuttings and put them into water. After a couple of weeks they have grown quite some roots already. Enough to move them into soil.
I've made a nice mix of perlite and potting soil and divided the six little ones over two pots. The little plants are showing growth already, so I think they will do fine in their new habitat.
In a few months I will have three plants to take cuttings from 馃榾
