this was what Sarah Willis said after I stayed at the Berlin Philharmonic. "My dream came true in September 2001 when I joined the Berlin Philharmonic as a trumpeter and as the first female female musician in the bronze orchestra!"

"The horn is for children," Sarah Willis's school teacher told him, so he suggested that he learn the flute or the oboe. That comment served as a challenge to the United States-born Brit, who grew up in Tokyo, Boston, Moscow and London and had his first horn lessons at the age of 14. After studying for three years in the Performer's Course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, Sarah continued her training with Fergus McWilliam in Berlin.

From 1991 to 2001 she was a member of the Staatskapelle Berlin and in 2001 she became the first bronze woman to be included in the ranks of the Berlin Philharmonic. Sarah Willis has performed with other leading orchestras such as Chicago Symphony, London Symphony and Sydney Symphony Orchestras and has appeared as a soloist around the world. He has also recorded several acclaimed CDs that include works by Johannes Brahms and Anton Rosetti.

Sarah is involved in many of the education projects of the Berlin Philharmonic and especially enjoys creating and presenting Concerts for the family. He also interviews directors and soloists for the Digital Concert Hall. Sarah is passionate about music education and makes full use of digital technology and social networks to reach audiences around the world.

She is also a regular broadcaster and interviewer on television and online and directs the classical music program Sarah's Music for Deutsche Welle TV.
