Continuing from what was probably a controversial part 4 We looked at how our primary needs end up using most of our days and the best part of our focus.

Our primary needs

  • Nutrition - energy and spare parts - covered in part pt4
  • Sex and affection/acceptance - we will look at today
  • Shelter - covered next chapter.

Persona and Self awareness
All is not vanity, but a good deal of our personal energy expenditure will go towards relationship building, gaining trust and acceptance into various groups.

If we are having acceptance issues, we will not be able to relax, and may waste our energy, focus and earnings trying to compensate or distract from these “un-bearable” emotions. These feelings are so common that we may not recognise them for what they are. The emotions of inadequacy, shame, guilt, fear and resentment. ( to our cells they are just shades of fear that spark adrenaline, cortisol and re-prioritize little things like blood flow, metabolism and immune function).

This is obviously going to have on impact on both sex and the degree of intimacy in our lives. Regardless of our other achievements. There is no way to compensate if something is "distorted or disproportionately needy" in the way we attune or resonate with each other on an emotional level.

Because our organism can not remain in “fear” state indefinitely, we use different behaviour to “alter” our emotional states. Anyone who has worked through addiction, understands that though discipline is fine when our energy is high.

No lasting change occurs without addressing the under-lying beliefs, stories and negative thoughts they produce. Negative emotions are not true sensations - they can not exist without a story to give them meaning. They rule our lives, but they are not actually real tangible things. The turbulence they create is real, and this interrupts our ability to sense what was happening before it crashed into our stories of what "should or should not" be.

Remember, it is our ability to develop skills based upon our senstivities that determines our economic success. Our ability to create and trade real value depends on our ability to remain calibrated to reality rather than fear based stories.

To seperate fact from internal fictions is the process of gaining self knowledge. Those who do not require urgent deep healing of emotional wounds save a lot of energy, but may lack the depth of empathy the comes from experiencing the debilitating effects of fear and self doubt, firsthand.

I still have not answered my earlier question about how a person can tune non physical skills. I trust you are enjoying building the foundations for that dialogue?
