Four weeks ago I left a job I was with for fourteen years. When I punched out for the last time one phrase kept repeating in my mind “retail is dead, bitcoin lives.” Many of my coworkers haven’t even heard of bitcoin which I had to give them a brief explanation to describe what my business will be. A few of them had just finished up their spring semester of college and somehow bitcoin just went under the radar for them. I’ve got my work cut out for me.
A few factors have allowed me to quit my job. The major ones were a most generous gift from uncle earlier in the year and moving back to Stony Point last year. In order for my business to succeed I’m going to have to grow the local bitcoin economy pretty much from scratch. So, I’ve got to create Satoshi Point. It might be redundant that I insert Satoshi into everything from my shoutouts on Twitter to naming my shoe store but I feel adamant that idea of Satoshi is more important than his identity. Getting that name into the vernacular of everyday people is my aim.
After being off for a month I need to start pressing forward and generating income because my savings will be gone soon enough. I’m hoping the back to school season will be my time to shine. In addition to footwear I think I’ll sell gift cards to local grocery stores for less when purchased with bitcoin. Spring through autumn is yard sale season so I might ask my sister if we can host one this year. We can clear out of items we no longer need and I get some additional advertising for my store.
