Hey Steemers!
I'm new to all of this and find the whole blockchain technology and some of its innovators fascinating for various reasons. One reason is that I have read and listened to some of the leaders in the nascent field describe how this technology is to be used for good, to provide for equitable and fair accounting of transaction records, access to capital via investments or content creation and honest distribution of revenue to those who generate the products that people demand. Wow, what a concept - treating people fairly! If this is true (and if people like Brock Pierce and Justin Sun are to be believed), then the world is in for a treat. I love that these guys are innovating with a concern for others and a motivation beyond amassing the biggest fortunes possible. There is nothing wrong with the desire to create wealth but to do so at the expense of others, as has been done throughout history whether via colonization, systematic disenfranchisement or straight up ripping off profits (as in royalties, etc) is problematic, at least to me.
So my question (because I work in the entertainment industry and am an artists' advocate) is this: how will Tron help artists monetize their content? If a song or screenwriter places content online in the form of a music video or tv show how will they be able to reap the financial rewards from viewers who may enjoy what they have provided? Is this where the smart contracts kick in, by tracking views and submitting payments like royalties to the artists? Who equips the smart contracts, meaning if an artist owes a percentage of every royalty to an agent or manager, how does that get programmed into the contract for distribution of funds? Any advanced fin-techies feel free to jump in here. I'm clearly no expert but I'm learning so I'm all ears (eyes here). Thanks.
