Yesterday, Stacie D and I were chatting about some pretty basic things, and I asked her what turned out to be a pretty difficult question.
For years I have studied the bible. I have taken it for what I know it to be, and have seen it for what others have thought it was.
Maybe it is just me and the age we are living in, but it seems like we have to have alot of trust in the men who put the bible together. Sure, we could say that it doesn't matter because God put it together, but think about it.
Many many years ago the bible was canonized. At some point in history someone had to say "yep, this is what goes in here and nothing more".
Of course, 1500 years later there were books removed from the bible...even though they were considered canon like the rest.
So when we consider the bible, we have to HOPE that it was constructed by people that were filled and lead by the Holy Spirit. But do we?
Here is the question I asked Stacie D... If there were no current bible and one was about to be created. All of them scripts that we currently have are all gathered together, who in this world would you trust to construct a bible and then tell you that it is the holy text, and everything you need to understand and do for God is in there.
Seemed kind of tricky. Just a thought. What do you think? Who would you trust to construct a bible that you would believe so much you would fight over it?
