A couple of weeks ago I was contacted by a fella in Ohio, and he wanted to get a couple of blades for his step sons. He gathered some information for me from their day, and I let it rip.
I had alot of fun with this build because it was a challenge to keep them so similar. I love the art of creating unique blades. So when I get in a situation where the blades are so much alike, I make sure that I add subtle differences. So the bevels are slightly different where the bevel meets the plunge line down near the handle. It is something that you don't really notice unless you are really digging into them.
I built these two beauties with 3/16" thick 1095 high carbon steel. Both have maple scales for the handle, one with red G10 liners and one with blue. I decided against pins in this build so I could get that awesome wood grain, super clean look. They are both fully heat treated, and finished at a 220 grit body and "dirty" bevels.
When it comes to creating knives the possibilities are endless. Actually, today I thought about Tom and Donna from the tv show Parks and Rec..... "Treat Yo Self"... So today, in between orders I started a custom blade for myself. When I got a bunch of free scale samples a while back, there were a couple of really cool khaki canvas micarta scales that were just begging to be something awesome. So I am currently gluing them to another set of micarta scales to make them thicker, but I am super excited.
It is about 8 inches long, just over an inch wide, and it is going to be awesome! So I will be having a post about that in a couple of days, hopefully.
If you are interested in a custom knife I accept PayPal....and..and...and... I accept Crypto!!!
Be well
