A time out. That's right, I gave myself a time out today. It has been a long day of just being bleh. My vlog today was even about being in between projects and not really knowing what to do today. So as the day started to wind down, I put myself in a time out. I sat outside for hours next to this little fire and just drank in the world.
I sat around the house the house for a bit, and even watched a movie. I didn't seem to be able to put thoughts together. I just melted into the couch and stared at the TV haha. That happens sometimes, and that's ok. Sometimes it is ok to just switch off, and give yourself a breather.
Have you had sat and looked at a fire. There is something about the way that it consumes. It consumes everything. It consumes things and eats it, but it also consumes thoughts. It sets you free. It takes everything that you are wound up about and just takes it away.
There is a primitive feeling I get when I build a fire. It is something that feels natural and it feels safe. Maybe it has to do with my years of relying on fire to survive in Southern Missouri. When we first moved to The Ozarks it was late spring, and it seemed to rain all the time. We slept in our car and kept all of our things in a tent. The one thing that we seemed to need all the time was a fire.
We learned to start fires in all kinds of conditions, even starting a fire in the rain. There are so many techniques to starting a fire, but it always has the same basic concept. Flames go up. So when you first start a fire you need very small sticks. It doesn't even matter if they are wet or not. If you can get your tinder started then the heat will dry out the small sticks and the fire will start.
As the flames go up you keep adding more sticks of different sizes. Starting with smaller ones and then getting bigger. Eventually the heat will take over and the fire will come to life.
I read some where that there are different personality types, and each type has a different thing that helps them find themselves again. Something that helps them to center themselves. I know we all have something. Something that brings us back from any or most moods. I took the test and it said I was an INFJ. It also said that the things that help me to center is being alone in nature. I can't believe how much it nailed it.
So here I am helping myself to a little time out. I did have some time with one of my kids, and Stacie D (@freedomtowrite) came to hang out. For the most part it was just me, taking it easy, clearing my mind and praying. I am getting all pumped up about the potential snow coming tomorrow, so atleast I am all rested up to face a foot of snow! There may be some awesome snow plowing tomorrow!
That you all for joining me for a little time out this evening. I hope you all are having an amazing day.
Be well
