As I have been working through my latest audio book about the power of now, it made me think of the greater spiritual journey. Have you ever noticed the expectation you have put on yourself, or the expectations others put on themselves. It is tough.
The idea that we can somehow use our mind to free ourselves from the information we have taken in. Almost like we could solve a problem with the same thing that caused it.
Through my years I have experienced many people starting a spiritual journey for what would seem like the wrong reasons. To either achieve something later, or prevent something negative later.
I know for years I blindly walked on a Christian path without a single thought about the present. I was caught up on later, or after death. I completely missed the beauty of the right now.
As a disciple of Jesus currently, I have found my mind wide open and my focus on the kingdom. Not the coming kingdom that many chase, but the now kingdom of God that is ever present. What Jesus spoke about us receiving when we are born again.
There is no doubt that ever journey is unique and individual. I have just become very aware that there can not be expectations. When we set expectations, we are creating food for the ego to feed on. There is no way to experience anything beyond ourselves if we are trying to steer the ship.
