Hello, dear friends, I know the New Year's festivities are already behind us, but I haven't been able to share my experience with you until now. In my family, we traditionally spend New Year's at my grandparents' house because, even though they're no longer with us, it remains a point of connection for the family. And even though several relatives live in other countries, some very far away, that's no excuse to abandon our traditions and, especially, to bless each other to start the new year with all the necessary positive energy and our hopes always placed in God. >Hola, queridos amigos, sé que las festividades de año nuevo ya las dejamos atrás pero yo no había podido compartir mi momento con ustedes sino hasta ahora. En mi familia acostumbramos a pasar el año nuevo en casa de los abuelos porque por más que ellos ya no estén ese sigue siendo un punto de unión para la familia, y a pesar de que varios familiares están en otros países, algunos muy lejanos, eso no es excusa para dejar de lado las tradiciones y en especial bendecirnos entre nosotros para iniciar el nuevo año con toda la buena energía necesaria y las expectativas siempre puestas en Dios.

At first, I was a little bored because hardly anyone had arrived yet; it was just my mom, my sister, two of my aunts, and me. So, after finalizing the last details for our New Year's Eve dinner, I started taking pictures to capture the moment. As I did, I kept thanking God for the year that had already passed. It wasn't the best year, but it was much better than others, like 2020 or 2021, for example, which were years of pandemic and when we even lost family members. I thanked God for my health and my family's, for the lessons I'd learned, for the spiritual and material blessings I'd received, and for the simple fact of being alive.

>Al principio yo estaba un poco aburrida porque aún no había llegado casi nadie, solo estábamos mi mamá, mi hermana, dos de mis tías y yo, así que después de alistar los últimos detalles de lo que sería nuestra cena de año nuevo me dispuse a tomar fotos para inmortalizar el momento, y mientras lo hacía no dejaba de agradecer a Dios por el año ya vivido, no fue el mejor de los años pero fue mucho mejor que otros, que el 2020 o el 2021 por ejemplo, que fueron años de pandemia y hasta perdimos familiares. Of course, I had to include photos of my uncle's Christmas decorations. He loves Christmas and is obsessed with ornaments 😄 His house looks like the inside of the Polar Express. My mom also loves Christmas and decorates the house a lot, but not to the same extent as my uncle.

Then people started arriving—my cousins and uncles—for the New Year's Eve dinner, which was delicious: hallacas, ham bread, chicken salad, roast beef, the traditional toast with eggnog, or as we call it in Venezuela, Ponche Crema (the brand name), and for dessert, a scrumptious apple and carrot cake. Hallacas, for example, are a typical dish that is prepared and enjoyed by families; they symbolize hard work and unity. The dinner also included anecdotes and New Year's resolutions.

>Después fue llegando la gente, mis primos y los tíos para la cena de despedida del año viejo, la cuál estuvo deliciosa: hallacas, pan de jamón, ensalada de pollo, asado, el respectivo brindis con ponche de huevo, o como le decimos en Venezuela, Ponche Crema (el nombre de la marca) y de postre una riquísima torta de manzana y zanahorias. Las hallacas por ejemplo son un plato típico que se prepara en familia y se degusta en familia, es un símbolo de trabajo duro y unión. And when midnight arrived, obviously that warm hug to welcome the new year was a must, because even though we feel the absence of family members who are now in heaven, as well as those who are simply in other countries, we, those of us who are still here, continue to follow traditions, to bring the warmth of home to our grandparents' house, to wish each other blessings and good things for the year that has just begun 🤗.

Ah, but with the technology we have today, it's a little easier to feel close to those family members who are far away, since video calls are a resource that keeps us connected 🙂

And finally, just like every year, after welcoming the new year we went to our older aunt's house, which is really close to our grandparents' house. There we met up with her and more family members to continue the celebration. They offered us dinner again, but we couldn't eat any more, not even dessert 😄 We just took pictures and of course gave blessings for this new beginning.

Well, friends, all that's left for me to do is thank the blockchain for this 2025 full of opportunities, all the communities and Hivers for the knowledge gained, and of course, God, because He is the main captain of our lives.
