Guidelines to Making Appropriate Decisions in Business
As a business grows, there seem to be lots of daily demands and there comes an urge to make life a working cycle. The life of an entrepreneur describes extreme hard work, on several occasions it seem the days are too short and time is never on a considerable part. These things will continue to happen as long as the business continues to blossom, but as difficult as it may sound, learning to say yes or no to tasks makes a lot of difference. As much as you want your business to grow, it is also good to take charge of your life by knowing when to say yes and when to say no. Living a life of accepting to do everything, means you have signed up for a stressful and a difficult life, being an entrepreneur does not mean you should go all stressed up all the time. Building the courage to say yes or no at the appropriate time implies that you are getting your life in the right manner.
The first lesson that comes with the decision to either say yes or no, is learning to do the right things for the right purpose, are you saying yes for the wrong reason or are you saying yes for the right reason? This is something you need to constantly ask yourself before going ahead to make any decision. Make decisions for the appropriate reasons and not for the wrong reasons. You should say yes to the things that suit your goals and achievement and not just to anything presented to you.
Here are some of the reasons I believe should make you give ‘YES’ as a response.
You could say yes to something that will improve your business.
To something that will make you a better and law abiding citizen of your country.
For the advancement in career.
To satisfy your interest and growth values.
Here are some of the reasons I believe should make you give ‘NO’ as a response.
When you are asked to carry out a task for the purpose of greed.
To make someone else feel useless.
You should not be lured to saying yes because you want to be acceptable by a group of persons.
Do not say yes because you simply want someone’s approval.
You should not be lured into saying yes if your business is at stake.
The fact that you are saying no to a specific task does not make you lazy neither does it make you less an entrepreneur. If the task is difficult or not convenient for you, you could simply say No, no one should make you feel you need to be able to carry out every task just because you are an entrepreneur.
The proper way to Decline.
There is nothing bad in refusing whatsoever you do not have the capability to handle, first get a proper determination in your mind about the task, if it is possible simply say yes but if it is not, simply say no, rather than giving a long explanation as to the reason why the task was not accomplished. You also need to be warned about those who will walk into your office and make it look like you have no option. Every response you give concerning your business, should be the one that will always make you proud.
