Arcade video games are a type of video games that were originally conceived for the arcade machines (also called "arcade machines") that since the 1970s and 1980s began to be available in public places of amusement, shopping malls, restaurants, bars, or specialized arcades. Today the term "arcade" is a generic term used to designate a style or category of video games, even though such video games are no longer used in arcade machines but at the user's home on platforms such as the console or PC.
Capcom Co., Ltd. (式会社カプコン Kabushiki-gaisha Kapukon?, TYO: 9697) is a Japanese video game developer and distributor. It was founded in 1979 as Japan Capsule Computers, a company engaged in the manufacture and distribution of video game machines. Its current name is the result of merging Capsule Computers. In 2016 Capcom Ent., Inc. moved to San Francisco. Capcom has created some of the most famous and enduring series in video game history, including Street Fighter, Dino Crisis, Monster Hunter, Mega Man, Ghosts 'n Goblins, Resident Evil and Devil May Cry.
As far as the gameplay is concerned it is important to mention that this is a melee combat game at a short distance, where the player must defeat the enemy by taking all the life available, where they have up to 8 rounds in which at any time one of the two opponents can be knocked out. The bad thing about this game is that the player will be forced to win by knocking out the opponent because if he does not do it and pass all the rounds, the person controlled by the artificial intelligence or CPU will win. This is a game that is difficult to play in terms of gameplay, but the opponents usually go up a little by little level as we move forward in the tournament. As I mentioned before, this game was a revolution in its time as far as fighting video games are concerned, with great innovations and better than the predecessor games of this genre.
This game presented us with 8 characters of which we can use and 4 others are controlled by the artificial intelligence and are not selectable, who are the final bosses of each of the rounds. Among those characters that we can choose we have Ryu who as I mentioned is my favorite character, who is a Japanese fighter who joins the tournament to improve his skills because that is his dream, to be the best as far as fighting tournaments are concerned. Then we have E. Honda, Blanka, Guile, Ken, Chun-Li, Zangief and Dhalsim. While among the bosses we have Balrog, Vega, Sagat and M. Bison.
As for the graphics I can tell you that the game was really good at least at the time it was released on the market, it marked an era in terms of color gamut, visual effects and animations that were also very good for that time (1991). The interface of the game was basic, correct but nothing that can be highlighted. The scenarios in which the tournaments were held vary, which is quite good at this point. The fluidity of the game is good and without many errors, which represents something positive in this game, at least in terms of errors I did not notice them at the time but like all games and more those of that time, that can happen. The sound is something that I liked a lot, both the sound effects and the soundtrack, in both the developer did a good job.
In conclusion, Street Fighter II: The World Warrior is a game that marked an era, quite entertaining and fun for players, more for those who like retro games. The gameplay is quite simple in terms of combat system, which makes the player only has to concentrate on having fun, but with some difficulty when performing special attacks, by the combinations that had to be done with the controls and the controller. I liked the graphics quite a lot, for the pixelated style, the animations in both physical attacks with what they are launched, good fluidity that was not a problem, in addition to the complete combination of colors, which were quite vivid and good for the moment. In the sound was also done a good job, something in which we can highlight. Anyway, although the game is not completely perfect, it was revolutionary in the early 90's, with great innovations as far as fighting games are concerned. That's why I give it a 9.7.
