Cultural intelligence and its impact on organizations

Because of this, a new type of intelligence has been developing, called cultural intelligence, which in the words of Laura Valls Panadero is defined:

As the ability to relate and interact efficiently with other people from different cultural backgrounds.

This helps us to avoid, understand and cope with difficulties or situations that arise in the new business scenario, where global and multiculturalism reigns supreme, because a global vision of business requires understanding how other cultures work, what are the differentiating elements that are prioritized there, while at the same time allowing us to adapt without losing our own identity.

Imagine that a Latin American manager, of recognized capacity and skills, is appointed to guide a process in Africa, if he does not have cultural intelligence, he could fail in his responsibilities because he will act according to his experience and not in accordance with the cultural elements prevailing there, while knowing how to adapt to the culture he will have greater chances of success.

That is why the development of this intelligence requires assessment, adaptation and interaction to ensure that healthy coexistence, communication and, above all, coexistence in increasingly global environments do not harm labor relations and are increasingly beneficial.

In conclusion, companies and organizations have to promote the aptitudes and skills necessary to succeed in these global markets, but at the same time we workers must take care to have these skills and be an attractive piece for companies, there are the benefits of cultural intelligence.
