This is one of the most iconic Greek monuments. It was built by the Venetians in 1473, on the tiny islet of Agioi Theodoroi, at the entrance of the port of Nafplion. They named it "Castello dello Soglio" (The castle of the throne) but the Turkish name "Bourtzi" was the one that lasted through the centuries!
During the turbulent Greek history this small castle has been used in many and some times, contradictory ways! Among others it has been a prison and a luxury hotel! Today it is under renovation but it is still wonderful to look at it, especially during the sunset!
I took this shot a couple of days ago, unfortunately without a tripod but, still, I am quite happy with it!
