While this coin lacks the lavish crystals and rare gold that other coins contain, it is still an incredible creation. I believe that nearly everyone here can agree that coins and fauna are a great mix, so Cameroon simply took this one step further. Many fauna orientated coins focus on having the animal imprinted in the face of the coin, however, obviously, the butterfly is 3D.
At a passing glance, the butterfly is almost frighteningly life like, looking almost as if it is about to launch off from the coin it was just resting on. At other angles, this effect is greatly enhanced. This coin is one of the many 3D coins, however, the simplicity of this design makes me feel as though the Butterfly Coin ranks at a higher tier than most others.
2500 of this silver coin was produced, and unfortunately, it does not come with a display cabinet. I feel like there would have been immense potential in a cabinet for the coin, capitalising on the many unique elements it contains, namely, the butterfly. This is only a slight downfall, however, and one that I believe we can all easily glance over.
