Freight locomotive Ty51
The construction of the heaviest engine of the Ty51 Polish construction was based on the Ty-246 locomotive delivered by the USA as part of UNNRA supplies to PKP just after the Second World War. It was also one of the last engine designs in Poland. It is a heavy freight locomotive, equipped with the most modern achievements of the engine technology, such as: Trofim sliders, automatic carbon feeder of the stocker system, a new type 27D51 tender, as well as a multi-tone steam siren. In the years 1953-57 a total of 242 machines of this type were built. They were withdrawn from traffic on main lines in the late 1970s in connection with the progressing electrification of railway routes. It could not be used on secondary lines due to its poor surface and a strong axle load of over 21 tonnes. Ty51-223 was built in the Cegielski plant in 1957. It has a serial number of 1532. Until 1988, it was stationed in Rzepin, dragging warehouses to Frankfurt / Oder. Since 1989, he is in Wolsztyn. The twin locomotive No. 183 (factory number 2475, year 1956) was brought from the Choszczno railway depot, it acts as a cold exhibit at the station.
