My wife and I went to go see some friends living in Bocas Del Torro a couple years ago. It was my first time ever going that far south. The furthest south I had ever been was Mexico, this was a real wake up for me, Ha!
We spent 2 weeks in Bocas, and then about a week in Panama City. Bocas is pretty small, its also quite touristy. We were able to rent a boat and check out a couple of the islands. It made me realize how good I have it in Canada.
First off....not a fan of the food, it tasted alright but just wasn't for me. It blew me away how many people from Italy and Argentina live here. The craziest part of Panama City was how empty those huge buildings are. At night, when the city lights up, only half the building have lights. We talked to a couple locals and they said the same thing, big companies will come in and buy up whole buildings and just leave them empty
