Today I’m sharing this illustration, designed to reflect those thoughts we sometimes have about women—but as you can clearly see in the image, it’s not about anything physical, and when we refer to “sinful thoughts,” it’s not something carnal. The image represents that desire that goes far beyond that.
When I import a caricature of myself into Illustrator, I get these outline-only lines. And by using a fill effect along with a multiply filter, I can change the color of the lines to the shade I find most appropriate.
Once the designs have been converted into templates, it’s much easier to place them in the correct position. I save the reference images—since they’re photographs that likely aren’t suitable for the community—but the illustration itself is clearly represented.
By layering the images one on top of another and erasing some corners, we can achieve a clean, flat result. By duplicating the design—the drawing that represents me—and lowering its opacity, I can create this full-image effect, and adding the text intensifies the message.
